  • Understand the relationship of cardiac anatomy and physiology to 12 Lead EKG’s
  • Discuss the basis of the lead system and bipolar and unipolar leads
  • Identify the correct positioning of the chest and limb leads
  • Determine the axis and recognition of abnormal right and left axis deviation
  • How to identify patterns of cardiac ischemia, injury and infarction
  • Recognize infarctions of the inferior and anterior-later wall
  • List the complications associated with specific myocardial infarctions

CONTENT:  The content will cover an overview of:

  • Reading a 12 Lead EKG utilizing a systematic approach
  • Determining the axis deviations using a two lead approach
  • Locating cardiac muscle ischemia, injury and necrosis based on changes seen in specific leads
  • Explanation of the complications arising from an inferior and anterior-septal wall myocardial infarction
